Gardening In Pots:Â Making A Water Feature
Pond and water features are an extremely popular choice for consumers. If your space is limited, or maybe you don’t even have a yard, there is a way to create your own water garden.Â
It is important when gardening in pots, to make sure that there is a place that will be able to hold the weight of the pot. This is especially true about water garden in pots. Make sure that wherever this will be situated, that it will be well supported.
The first step in creating this water feature is to purchase a watertight pot. These can be found at a variety of home improvement stores and garden shops. A good height for this is probably around 18 inches high and 24 inches in diameter. When gardening in pots, and making this water feature it may be a good idea to get a small pump to be placed in the bottom of the pot. The electric cord attached to the pump can be pulled through the hole in the bottom of the pot and out the back. A small tube can be connected to the pump to make a small fountain if desired.
By doing this, the water will not stagnate and become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Water is added and then plants can be selected. Plants can either be floating type that don’t’ need to be planted, or planters can be purchased and set at the bottom of the large pot. Again, purchasing water plants can be done on the Internet or by going to local stores for more information.
When gardening in pots, be sure to check for any pressure points in the pot that may suddenly occur and start leaking. No one wants water running out of the pot. If there are structural problems empty the pot immediately.
Gardening in pots and creating a unique water feature can make an area feel warm and inviting. Gardening in pots is very simple, and doesn’t take a great amount of time. Besides water features, pots can be used to house flowers and plants to create a lush environment on a patio or roof top. Gardening in pots lets the gardener take a small space and spruce it up to be a tranquil get away.
Okay, I probably shouldn’t be talking about Holly right now when Christmas is so far away but I figured now would be a great time to think about adding some color to your yard during those winter months. The bright red berries, distinct deep green leaves, small white flowers and the diversity of the plant [...]
I’m sure that everyone, whether you garden or not, is aware of many of the gardening tools available. I mean, if you have ever been in a home improvement store, you have probably strolled past the aisles filled with gardening tools.
Even still, I would like to go through them for any beginner gardener out there. [...]
It’s not quite time to start winterizing your roses but I figured that now would be the perfect time to discuss the topic since you don’t want to leave your roses until winter is almost upon us. You will find that most roses should be winterized in November. More than likely they will still be [...]
With all the talk of fall that I have had over the last week, I have almost given up hope and started packing in my outdoor furniture. Of course, it’s not really time to start resorting to such drastic measures and I will have a few weeks left to enjoy my outdoors.
Still, even with that [...]
Fall is coming up very quickly and before you know it, kids will be back to school, farmers will be bringing in crops and you’ll be getting your garden ready for the winter. Among many of the tasks that you will need to do, one of these will be in planting your bulbs for the [...]
