Creating A Beautiful Bonsai Garden
Creating a bonsai garden can be a great activity for everyone and is both enjoyable and stress relieving. It can produce a beautiful display of bonsai trees that will be enjoyed by all of the family, and with good care and practice will carry on to be enjoyed by everyone for many years. When creating a bonsai garden there are several factors to look at:
Climate – This has to be taken into consideration; a bonsai is considered an outdoor plant and therefore needs to be in the right temperatures to grow correctly.
Design – Artistic and imaginative planning should be done in order to make the garden look attractive. A simple design and layout should be created to begin with before starting to build anything.
Terraces – These make the scenery a lot more realistic.
Ideal Plants For Creating A Bonsai Garden
Ideal subjects are ficus trees, citrus, hibiscus, jade plants, podocarpus, serissa, schefflera and bougainvillea. There is also a popular flowering plant known as the Azalea tree.
To begin with, the plant should be placed in a container using well draining soil. Well draining soil usually derives from coarse sand, sphagnum moss and clay, which is a composition that has good moisture retention so the soil will not dry out.
Guidelines To Care For The Bonsai Garden
The soil should never dry out completely so the plant should be watered daily in summer and a little less frequently when the weather is cool. Rainwater is better for a bonsai plant, but a gallon of water with a tablespoon of white vinegar can be a very good alternative.
Fertilizer can also be put on the soil but growers should not use a rapid grow fertilizer, as this is not recommended. Regular trimming of the branches and trunk should be done to culture and help maintain the bonsai garden. If dead flowers or dried leaves appear they should be removed.
Pesticides in a bonsai garden must be used carefully. They should not be sprayed on a plant but in the root level of the soil.
If all of these important guidelines are taken and followed correctly, they should lead to maintaining a healthy and attractive bonsai garden. Growers should personally take care of their own bonsai garden, however if someone else maintains their garden such as a gardener that person should be informed of the guidelines to take care of bonsai plants and trees.
Okay, I probably shouldn’t be talking about Holly right now when Christmas is so far away but I figured now would be a great time to think about adding some color to your yard during those winter months. The bright red berries, distinct deep green leaves, small white flowers and the diversity of the plant [...]
I’m sure that everyone, whether you garden or not, is aware of many of the gardening tools available. I mean, if you have ever been in a home improvement store, you have probably strolled past the aisles filled with gardening tools.
Even still, I would like to go through them for any beginner gardener out there. [...]
It’s not quite time to start winterizing your roses but I figured that now would be the perfect time to discuss the topic since you don’t want to leave your roses until winter is almost upon us. You will find that most roses should be winterized in November. More than likely they will still be [...]
With all the talk of fall that I have had over the last week, I have almost given up hope and started packing in my outdoor furniture. Of course, it’s not really time to start resorting to such drastic measures and I will have a few weeks left to enjoy my outdoors.
Still, even with that [...]
Fall is coming up very quickly and before you know it, kids will be back to school, farmers will be bringing in crops and you’ll be getting your garden ready for the winter. Among many of the tasks that you will need to do, one of these will be in planting your bulbs for the [...]
