Interested In Rock Gardens?
Rock gardens have become increasingly popular around homes that are situated around slopes or banks. They have an exquisite look about them if done correctly. There are different types of rock gardens to choose from. For example, there are the artificial rock gardens and natural rock gardens. They usually have small or dwarf plants planted in the crevices and they usually don’t require a lot of attention as long as you plant the right kind of plant.
The Differences
In order to decide what kind of rock garden you will have, you need to determine the sites where you will have you rock gardens. If you have a natural slope or bank that already has rocks, you will more than likely go for the natural rock garden. If you need to collect additional rocks to add to your garden, we recommend getting the same type of rock or if you are unable to be find similar rocks, then you may get artificial rocks that will match the current rocks in your garden. If you need to create a man-made site for your rock garden, then that will be the artificial rock gardens and you will more than likely need to bring in rocks and have a formation made to place them.
Which Plants Work Best
You can choose from different plants to place in your rock gardens. Depending on the site of you rock gardens, the weather conditions, and the temperament of the plants will help make your decision. If you have your rock gardens in a wooded place and maybe a stream of water, you may want to go with mosses or ferns. If your rock garden is in a hot area with not a lot of shade then you may want to consider cacti. Also, if it is a natural garden, make note of the types of plants already growing at the site, you may want to stick to those and just add on.Â
Most importantly, you should research on which plants grow best around the soil where the garden is and the kind of rocks in the garden. If you plant a fern that is not compatible with the soil then your rock garden will not be successful or look exquisite because now you would have dead ferns. Before planting, clean out the weeds in the area and it is best to plant your plants in the rock gardens around early spring or early fall.
Being Successful
Getting the most satisfaction out of your rock gardens is all up to you. Your view of the rock garden is the most important view of all. Do research and maybe hire a professional to help if you have trouble, but have patience and enjoy the experience.   Â
