Non-Pesticide Methods to Rid your Yard Area of Pesky Snakes
Snakes can be a bother when it comes to your yard. No one wants to see a snake. Not to mention that some snakes are very dangerous – they are simply not what you want to have in your yard at all! If you have a snake problem, you are probably going to want to first determine what kind of snakes they are. If they are poisonous, you should call someone to come remove them. This is because it can be dangerous to have poisonous snakes living in your yard, and they are dangerous to get rid of yourself. If they aren’t dangerous, you should know that by doing several things you can encourage them to go elsewhere. The problem with snakes is that there is no real pesticide that can be used to get rid of them. However, luckily for everyone, there are several things that you can do with your yard that will help to encourage them to go elsewhere.
The first thing that you should do if you are looking to get the snakes out of your yard is to get rid of all of the clutter. You should not have piles of leaves or wood, and you shouldn’t have anything in your yard that snakes can rest in. There are many places that snakes like to hide, tall grass is one of them. Therefore, keep your yard mowed so there isn’t any tall grass. The main reason that snakes come into a yard is because there are places to hide and things to eat. Once you have taken care of all of the things that they can hide in, make sure that you take care of any rodent or insect problem that you have. If there is no where for them to live, and nothing for them to eat, you will see that they might not stick around so much.
You should also remember that snakes like to come indoors. Walk around your home and look at the foundations. Remember to look at the ventilation systems as well. IF you see a hole that is bigger than a quarter size, you are having a place where snakes can come in your home. They’ll be attracted to your home because its nice and warm. Plug up any holes. If you can’t plug them up, put a screen up so that a snake can’t get in them.
Another thing that happens often is that snakes will simply come in a home if the doors or windows are open. Make sure that you have screens on all of your windows, and make sure that you aren’t letting your door stand wide open. Snakes will go towards something that is warm and inviting, so an open door is just that for a snake – an open door!
Snakes are tricky business because there is really no way to actually get rid of them besides for changing the way your home is set up. There are no real poisons that you would want to use on the snakes. The best thing that you can do is to make sure the snakes have no reasons to come into your yard. Remember the basics. Snakes are going to be looking for a place to live and things to eat. If you get rid of anything they can live in, and if you get rid of any rodent problem or any insect problem, you will find that you don’t need to worry about actually getting rid of the snakes. Once there is no where for them to live and once there is nothing for them to eat, they will simply move on. This is the best way to make sure your yard isn’t snake heaven. However, if snakes have stuck around even though you have gotten rid of places to live and things to eat, you should call a snake expert, because there may be something else going on.
