I would suggest spraying your houses with Tea Tree Oil, it works well on fleas so I would imagine it would work on spider mites.

Hananh.. incredible.. you make a very bold claim regarding "exposure" to neem oil and it's link to Parkinson's.. but with no link and with no evidence.. brilliant. I've searched uncle Google and found nothing stating that claim.

Vagueness and generalities.. contrary to that hit n run statement, recent research showing that neem contains extraordinarily high levels of antioxidants. Antioxidants combat free radicals that have been implicated in a wide variety of disorders including arteriosclerosis, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

I have used neem oil for numerous years for both gardening and commercial farming and have found it to be a wonderful solution on so many levels.

Take Care-- Although Neem oil is plant based (form the Neem tree), it is not necessarily safe to use. Exposure to neem oil has been linked to Parkinson's disease (as has rotenone, another "organic" pesticide), so use with caution.

Just though this was important to mention.

I have a very similar problem to Elly. The red spider mites come into my home each fall. Not on my plants. They bite us and get into bedding, etc. We live in Colorado. What suggestion can you give me to get rid of them? We have a small infant and do not want to use chemicals.
We were thinking maybe steam cleaning the carpet might work. I understand they can come from underneath the carpet padding and bred there.
There are juniper trees around the house but not close to the house. None of them look unhealthy. The house itself is made of wood and has wood on the exterior but I am not sure what kind of wood. Is it possible for them to come inside when we bring in firewood?

Thanks for any help you can give,

Hi I don't have plants in my house. every year I get spider mites. they bite me and get into my clothing. Some of them are transperent white, and others are black with shiny shell. Every summer they come to my kitchen window screen and the kitchen door by me. they are on the walls, the courtans, lamps, shelves, clothing, practically every where. My blood presure go up to 190 over 150 when i get bitten by them. I am tired cleaning my house, and extremely angry. I also have a small tree "asterous" that makes white flowers like stars in the spring time, and this tree looks sick. I have seen mites on the tree too.
I need help to eliminate them permanently. What is the reason they come to my house? Were they come from? what attract then to my house?
Thank You. Elly.
