Picking The Best
Knowing what to look for when picking out bonsai plants is important. To pick out great bonsai plants that will grow and flourish in the environment you plan to grow them in, you have to know a few different things first. Care instructions, height, width, and shaping care are all part of the art of bonsai and can be overwhelming if you do not check to see what you need first. Here are a few examples of the things you should ask yourself before you start growing bonsai.
Care Instructions
Different types of bonsai plants will have different care instructions. This is the first thing you should look for when shopping for bonsai plants. Know what the watering instructions are first. If you are the type of person that will forget to water your bonsai plants once in awhile, pick a type of bonsai that does not require as much water as some of the others do. If you know you tend to over water your plants, pick a bonsai that can tolerate more water.
The next part of the care instructions for bonsai plants is sunlight. Most bonsai plants require a decent amount of sunlight, so make sure you have a sunny place in mind before you go to buy your bonsai plants. These plants can be grown indoors or outdoors, but must get a good dose of sunlight each day.
Height
The height of your bonsai plants is another aspect to look out for. Depending on where you plan to put it, you will need plenty of head room to let it grow out properly. If you plan to grow your bonsai outside, height will probably not be a factor when choosing your plants. But if you plan to grow it inside, know that some bonsai trees will grow taller than others and they will need the room to grow correctly. The same consideration applies to the width of the plant.
Shaping
Make sure that once you have picked out your bonsai plants that you take a lesson on shaping the tree. Many people love the aesthetic aspect of growing bonsai, so to be true to the art, you will need to take the time and effort to shape your tree. There are many different styles you can use, or you can come up with your own. Whatever you decide to do, make sure that you have the proper tools to do it. Garden centers will have the tools you need to order to properly trim and shape your bonsai plants.

I’m sure that everyone, whether you garden or not, is aware of many of the gardening tools available. I mean, if you have ever been in a home improvement store, you have probably strolled past the aisles filled with gardening tools.
Even still, I would like to go through them for any beginner gardener out there. [...]
It’s not quite time to start winterizing your roses but I figured that now would be the perfect time to discuss the topic since you don’t want to leave your roses until winter is almost upon us. You will find that most roses should be winterized in November. More than likely they will still be [...]
With all the talk of fall that I have had over the last week, I have almost given up hope and started packing in my outdoor furniture. Of course, it’s not really time to start resorting to such drastic measures and I will have a few weeks left to enjoy my outdoors.
Still, even with that [...]
