Trees as a work of art

Published by Sirena Van Schaik at 2:08 am under Featured, Photos of Flowers

When it comes to an outdoor space, there can never be too many trees.  I love them and the images they provoke.  The large willow out to the side of our yard gives me images of children playing in its thick limbs, the small maple tree in the side yard brings me images of early spring days when I used to marvel at the brilliant greens of the new province I lived in.  Trees are a work of art and they can be used for shade, privacy or as a focal point for any garden.

Which is why, when I went to the Royal Botanical Gardens this last week, I was amazed by the trees and shrubbery that was shaped into works of art.  I wanted to share the photographs with you and hopefully over the next couple of weeks, I will have more information on shaping trees for your own garden.  So please enjoy the photographs and if you are interested in learning more about shaping trees into works of art, please visit this site.  These two artists created an art called Pooktre.  The living art that they produce is amazing and you can contact them for tips on how to create your own.

In the pictures above and below, the tree branched up over the pergola creating a figure 8.

Thanks Becky for the comments. I placed a link (which I forgot to put in earlier) to the Royal Botanical Gardens. It is the one in Burlington/Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. A very nice place to visit.
